People enjoying Car Free Night

My name is Anjjelina, and I would like to share about Car Free Night El Tari Maumere. This night market, held every Saturday evening on El Tari Maumere, is known as Car Free Night. It was officially inaugurated by the Sikka Regency Government and has become a vibrant center of entertainment and culinary tourism in Maumere.

As you enter the night market on Sunday evening, the lively atmosphere can already be seen from afar. Colorful light brighten the night sky, creating a cheerful and festive mood. The streets are filled with visitors, strolling leisurely, enjoying the evening ambiance. Rows of vendor tents are nearly lined along the road, Their stalls illuminated by glowing lights. The palm trees growing in the middle of the street add to the beauty of this night market. From above, it is clear how this night market has become the main attraction on Sunday nights.

Here a wide variety of food and drinks are offered. There are donuts with colorful toppings that catch the attention of children, crispy fritters, perfect as snacks, and refreshing fruit ice that quenches the thirst. Traditional cakes are also present, such as onde-onde, kue lapis, and nagasari. These assorted treats are truly appetizing and serve as a special attraction for visitors.

Not far from there, you will find the Playground Area. Children eagerly line up to ride a mini train pushed manually, slowly circling around a small track. Their laughter and cheers fill the air. In another corner, some children are deeply focused on their drawing boards, happily coloring or painting. With brushes in hand and color palettes beside them, they create little works of art amidst the lively night market. Colorful balloons can also be seen around this area adding a delightful touch to the atmosphere.

Further inside there is a Pet Fish Stall where ornamental fish are sold. Small, colorful fish swim lively in glass jars. Among them are betta fish with their beautiful tails, along with various other types of freshwater fish. The glass jars are decorated with plastic plants and colorful pebbles, adding to their charm and attracting the attention of visitors, especially children

At the end of the street, there are vendors selling a variety of Maumere's traditional handicrafts. Bracelets and pendants with unique motifs are displayed alongside small bags made form Sikka's signature woven fabric. These crafts are highly sought after by tourists as souvenirs of keepsakes from Maumere. A friendly vendor warmly offers the items, ready to share the stories behind each weaving patter.

Conclusion: The Maumere Sunday Night Market is the heart of entertainment and togetherness. Held every Sunday evening, it serves as a place where people can unwind and create beautiful memories, going for beyond a simple shopping activity.
